Midongsan Arboretum (미동산수목원)

Opened on May 4, 2001, Midongsan Arboretum in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do is a provincial arboretum, built to develop and propagate forestry techniques and found ecological education environments.

Covering an area of 3,114,049.60㎡ (942,000 pyeong), the arboretum houses almost 873 species of plants and 652,000 plants in 11 exhibition halls including an Oak tree hall, a Maple tree hall, and a genetics hall, which presents plant genetic resources like Jeongipumsong hugyemok (succession of pine tree).

In addition to the 11 themed arboretum halls, Midongsan Arboretum also has a forestry educational hall, plant seed bank, research center for wild plants, nature experience camp, and more.

Experience Guide

[Weekend Forest Class]
- Operating period: April-November (once a month), 2015
- Number of people admitted:
40 people per month
Special Family class
The third Saturday of the month (10 family groups)
- Eligiblity: Families with children aged 7 and over

[Natural Educational Experience Class]
- Operating period: April-November (every Tuesday and Thursday),2015
- Eligibility: Kindergarten to Midlle school students
- Number of people admitted:
60 people per time (8 times per month / 480 people per month
- Curriculum
Morning: Tour of the arboretum, forest introduction, and ecological path visit
Afternoon: Natural ecological education and experience

[Woods Experience Class]
- Operating period: March-November (5 times a month),2015
- Eligiblity: Kindergartners to adults
- Number of people admitted:
12 family groups per time (about 40 people)
During the week: Kindergartners to Junior High school students
During the weekend: 12 family groups per time (about 40 people)
