Non-verbal performances transcend language barriers, and dance is one of the representative genres. The non-verbal performance Step uses dance as a medium to connect generations and reflect on dreams and hope, making it a great chance for multiple generations to enjoy a performance together.
The protagonist, Nina, accidentally discovers her late grandfather’s LP records and embarks on a time-travel journey into his memories. As she navigates the challenges of adult life – exciting encounters, heart-wrenching farewells, difficult choices, regrets, despair, and hope - her grandfather continually poses questions to her.
Step consists of eight chapters, from “Opening” to “Love.” Each chapter’s background is vividly presented through media art, specifically designed to match its theme. The performance features different dance genres in each chapter, keeping the audience engaged and offering visual variety. It showcases a range of dance styles, including K-POP and hip-hop, which are popular with the younger audiences, as well as locking, waacking, and traditional Korean dance, allowing viewers to experience a diverse array of dance genres on one stage.
